Barcelona and Bayern Munich both want to sign the United States international

Ajax left Barcelona and Bayern Munich target Sergiño Dest on the bench for Saturday's game against Vitesse. According to De Telegraaf, the right-back asked not to be involved to avoid injuries ahead of a transfer.

Barça's move for the United States international could also be behind the Ajax coach Erik ten Hag's decision. The Catalan club have been in talks with the Marc Overmars, the Dutch club's sporting director over a move, and Dest has told his teammates he will move before the transfer window closes.

Save any twists, his destination will be Camp Nou, not Bayern. The departure of Nelson Semedo, who joined Wolves for an initial 30 million euros, has allowed Barça to press ahead with plans to sign Dest to fill the gap left by the Portugal international.

Dest, 19, has expressed a preference to sign for Barça over Bayern. Ajax will listen to him and to offers, but they did not accept Barça's offer. Negotiations are ongoing over the fee, which will be around 20 million, although there's a debate about how and when the money will be paid.
