The legend Wim Kieft believes that although the defender has much to learn, he could improve much quicker - and better - outside of Holland

No one in Holland believes De Ligt will remain at Ajax beyond this summer with most suggesting the Camp Nou is his likely destination. However some have questioned whether, at just 19 years of age, a move to one of Europe's biggest sides is a good idea at this stage of his career.

Former Ajax star, Wim Kieft, disagrees and believes the best thing De Ligt can so is leave at the end of this season.

"We've seen that he's good in the aerial duels, one-on-ones, but he's still finding it difficult to play in small spaces. He still needs to develop in that aspect and he'll probably do that, but it'll still take some time. Should he stay? I don't think that benefits him or Ajax."

Kieft believes the club should cash in right now and accept the €60m on offer. "He's 19 years old but is already a leader who assumes responsibility on the pitch. That's why so many clubs are after him, despite him his young age."
