D-Day: Barça look to close signing of Sevilla's Clement Lenglet

The centre-back will tell Sevilla he's off to Barcelona on Saturday

The day has arrived. French defender Clement Lenglet, who for weeks has been a Barcelona target, will tell Sevilla on Saturday that he's decided to accept the offer to move to Camp Nou.

After weighing up his options, the centre-back has reached the decision to sign for Barça, although Pep Segura and Eric Abidal have been aware of his decision for two weeks.

Lenglet arrived in Sevilla on Friday after a holiday and on Saturday will meet with the club's director of football, Joaquin Caparros, to tell him he's leaving.

The news will not come as a surprise because the player and his agenet, Gregory Dakad, have been analysing their options for weeks, with Sevilla's knowledge.

Once Lenglet has told Sevilla, Barça will get to work. The idea is to pay his release clause as soon as possible (from July 1) although it's likely the clubs will end up agreeing a formal transfer instead to save the hassle.

CLAUSE

Lenglet's release clause is 30 million euros but Barça are ready to pay a little more to do the deal as a transfer -- and pay the fee in installments.

It would be a friendly agreement. The good relationship between the clubs mean this is possible. Therefore, the final cost will be around 35 million euros.

Even though he's due to start preseason with Sevilla on Tuesday, Lenglet will not get the chance to work with new coach Pablo Machin, who left Girona this summer.

The plan is for the Frenchman to travel immediately to Barcelona and to be presented this coming week, the club's first signing of the summer.

He will begin training with Barça on July 11 and will be on the club's tour of the United States later in the month.
