Talks were advanced but there has been a change of scenario

Rafinha and Barcelona are keeping an eye on the latest 'crisis' at Valencia. Discrepancies between the club's owner, Peter Lim, and the director general, Mateu Alemany, could see the latter leave the club and that could have consequences for the Brazilian midfielder.

Barça and Valencia are/were negotiating the transfer of Rafinha. The Catalan club had even suggested a deal could be completed this week. Everything was advanced. But the breakdown of Lim and Alemany's relationship could change things.

Lim wants a bigger say in sporting operations and that could see Alemany and Pablo Longoria leave the club. It could even see Marcelino question his future.

Barcelona and Valencia only had to solve the payment method. Los Che wanted to pay the 15 million fee in three five million euro instalments, as long as Rafinha remains fit given his injury history.

The Blaugrana, meanwhile, want the first payment to be 10 million euros but would accept the final five million to be paid in 2.5 million instalments.
