The Danish international will move to Camp Nou for free when his contract expires

Andreas Christensen will be a Barcelona player this week. The Chelsea defender, who will arrive on a free after not renewing his contract at Stamford Bridge, has already passed the first part of his medical and on Monday will undergo the second part. Once that's out the way, all that remains is to finalise the deal, which will happen this week.

The player's agents will arrive in Barcelona soon to seal the deal after the Catalan club saw off competition from Bayern Munich and other bid sides to complete his signing. Barça improved their initial offer to persuade the player to make the move. The 25-year-old will sign a six-year deal worth around €6 million annually.

Once confirmed, Christensen will become the latest summer signing for Xavi's improving Barça project. Emre Demir and Pablo Torre will join the club's B team, although the latter will be in the first team dynamic. Barça are trying to strengthen with free transfers to enable any spending to focus on striker Erling Haaland.
