Talks over a new contract have been put on hold until the summer

Iniesta says his performances will decide if he will extend his terms

Andres Iniesta's contract with Barcelona expires in 2018 and, right now, his renewal is more up in the air than it had seemed in recent months.

The midfielder confirmed that talks are on hold until the end of the season and left messages which are open to interpretation.

While making it clear that Barcelona is the club of his life and where he's dreamed of retiring, but he also said that he won't stay just for the sake of it.

On his future, the first thing he assured is that he is "focused on what we've got coming up, we're in three competitions -- which are really important -- after achieving the impossible in the Champions League.

"We will evaluate the future as it should be evaluated, football changes a lot, things can vary in three weeks, but I have always said my dream is to end my career here.

'I am not saying I won't renew my contract. I want to finish my career here but that will be decided by my performances on the pitch and my feelings.

'I won't stay here if I am not important for the club. That's clear. But what I can say is that there will never be problems between Iniesta and Barça."
