The former presidential candidate has picked up 3,437 in the last week

However, there is still a debate over when the deadline for the process is

Agustí Benedito continues to work towards his target of 16,570 signatures to trigger a referendum against Josep Maria Bartomeu and the Barcelona board. In a press conference on Thursday, Benedito revealed that he currently has 10,715 signatures after an increase of 3,437 in the last week.

"We are a little ahead of what we expected, so we're really happy. We have 12 days left to get the rest of the signatures. It's a big challenge, but one which is more within reach all the time. We're convinced we will be able to put this board to a vote to decide whether they continue or if they have to leave," Benedito said.

UNTIL oct. 2

One of the controvesial matters is the deadline for the process. Benedito insists that he has until Oct. 2, not Sept. 27 as the club have stated.

"I'm not thinking about gifting them even a single day of those which we are within our rights to collect signatures," he said. "The difference between Sept. 27 and Oct. 2 is five days and one game at Camp Nou. They must think that if they leave us, we will get a few thousand more. We will implement the rights of the socios to whatever point necessary."

And he said he will do what it takes to defend his and other socios' rights if the club maintain their positions. "I would prefer that not to be the case, but if 18,000 socios want to vote on whether Bartomeu continues or not, they [the board] have to let them. Reason must prevail. If this has to end in court, it will be advisable to give public faith to the number of ballots [signed] when the process ends."

Benedito also said that he doesn't think the team's good results will affect the vote of no confidence: "The good result help lift spirits and I think that helps people give more support to the vote of no confidence. The socios differentiate sporting matters from institutional ones. On the day of the derby, they applaused the team but many still signed. The same against Juve... Those that want the board to resign are clear on that."
