The right-back spoke at his presentation as a Barcelona player on Tuesday

Héctor Bellerín was officially presented as a new FC Barcelona player on Tuesday at the Ciudad Deportiva in Sant Joan Despí. He has returned to what was his home 11 years after leaving, when he was a youth player, but as he acknowledged, he always thought that one day he would return.

Of course, he did not expect it to be this season: "I wore this shirt for many years in the Barça academy and now was the year I least expected to be able to return home. I want to thank the president and all the clubs I've been through and who have made this possible. I always had inside me the desire to be able to play in the first team, in the past there were options but they didn't materialise, but I always had that intuition that I would have the option to return home."

Bellerín, who has received his membership card from the president Joan Laporta after signing the contract that binds him to the club until June 2023, explained that he has found a very good atmosphere in the locker room. "I find myself in a very nice dressing room, with a great atmosphere and I'm sure we can do great things. I tell the fans to enjoy themselves, that's what it's all about."

Joan Laporta: "Xavi asked for his signing"

The president of Barça welcomed Bellerín to the club and told an anecdote that they arrived at FC Barcelona on par in 2003: One to play in the academy and the other in the presidency.

"You arrived when I entered as president in 2003," he pointed out. "Now you have come back, you have had many experiences that have surely helped you a lot."

Laporta added that his incorporation has been done at the request of the coach: "His signing was requested by Xavi and it was achieved thanks to the great work of Mateu (Alemany). Hector is a committed person and I am sure he will also help us. Welcome back to your home, your success will be those of the team."
