Barcelona want to sign Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic

The Catalan club are looking for a player to replace Aleix Vidal in the January window

Barcelona are interested in a defender currently playing in the Premier League. It’s a player who could be considered a veteran, with experience and could cover the needs that the club have in defence.

According to Goal.com, Barcelona will make an offer for Chelsea’s Serbian defender Branilsav Ivanovic, 32, when the transfer window opens in January.

With the arrival of Antonio Conte to the Stamford Bridge bench, Ivanovic has lost his place in the team and has been replaced by Victor Moses, who’s playing as a right wing back in a new formation. In fact, since the 3-0 loss to Arsenal on Sept. 24, Ivanovic has played just four minutes in the Premier League.

Ivanovic would be signed as a replacement for Aleix Vidal, who could leave Barça this summer after losing his manager’s confidence. He hasn’t featured since the La Liga defeat to Alaves in September.

The Serbian’s experience, the cost of the operation and the fact he’s not played in the Champions League mean he meet all the conditions the club have on the table for a new right-back.
