Bartomeu took the decision to postpone the vote amid opposition

There was a surprise at Barcelona's AGM on Saturday: the board took an unexpected step back in their plans to change the club's badge after the majority of the socios that spoke were in opposition to the new design.

Even though it was planned for Jordi Cardoner, the club's vice president, to respond to the complaints, president Josep Maria Bartomeu decided to reply instead.

"We will remove this point from the order of the day and will have some internal reflexion about the preferences and needs of the socios," Bartomeu said. "Maybe it's necessary to call a referendum to decide something as important as a change of crest."

Many of the socios present complained about the board's decision, who decided to take a step back than be defeated in the voting process.

There were jeers when Bartomeu announced the decision and some socios walked out of the Palau.
