Barcelona star Messi named La Liga Player of Month for February
The forward scored four goals and set up six in the league last month
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has been named La Liga's Player of the Month for February after helping his side win all of their league matches.
Barça started the month with a win against Levante and followed that with further successes against Real Betis, Getafe and Eibar.
Messi was the spine to all of the wins. He set up both goals for Ansu Fati in the 2-1 win over Levante; set up all three goals in the 3-2 win at Betis; assisted Antoine Griezmann in 2-0 victory over high-flying Getafe; and then scored four in the 5-1 trouncing of Eibar.
He ended the month, therefore, with six assists and four goals, taking his tally for the season to 18, five clear at the top of the scoring charts in Spain's top flight.
It's the second time this season Messi has won the prize after claiming it in November, too. La Liga have accounted that he will be presented with the award ahead of his team's clash against CD Leganes on 22 March.
