Barcelona are obliged to break their losing streak at Real Sociedad

The Catalan club haven't tasted success at Anoeta for nearly a decade now

Barcelona visit Anoeta this weekend, a ground which they’ve been cursed at since 2006-07, when they won 0-2. Since then, seven games, two draws and five losses.

After Real Sociedad’s promotion back into La Liga in 2010-11, Barça have been unable to pick up three points in San Sebastian. The only positive was securing qualification for the Copa del Rey final there in 2014 with a draw.

The game between Real Sociedad and Barcelona will be the 70th played in the Basque Country. Until now, the statistics are on the home team’s side. La Real have won 29 of the games (42 per cent) played at Atotxa and Anoeta.

Barça, meanwhile, have won 17 of them (24.6 per cent). As for goals, the scoreline reads in favour of Real Sociedad 101-91.

Here have been Barça’s last seven trips to Aneota:

2010-11 · 30/04/2011 · Real Sociedad - FC Barcelona 2-1 (Liga)

2011-12 · 10/09/2011 · Real Sociedad - FC Barcelona 2-2 (Liga)

2012-13 · 19/01/2013 · Real Sociedad - FC Barcelona 3-2 (Liga)

This Sunday, Barça's trident have a huge challenge: to win a game at Real Sociedad in order to not allow Real Madrid to increase their four point lead at the top of the table.
