Quique Setién left the Dane on the bench for the 2-0 win at Camp Nou

Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite was denied the chance to play against his former side Leganes on Tuesday as the Catalans ran out 2-0 winners.

The Danish international joined Barça for 18 million euros as an emergency replacement for the injured Ousmane Dembele in February.

He scored his first goal at the weekend in the 4-0 win against Mallorca but started on the bench against his ex-teammates at Camp Nou.

It was the first time he had the chance to play against Leganes since leaving for Barça but coach Quique Setien decided not to bring him off the bench.

His departure from Leganes left the Madrid side desperately short of goals, with Youssef En-Nesyri also leaving in January for Sevilla.

Meanwhile, their top scorer, Oscar Rodriguez, was suspended for the game at Camp Nou, leaving them with just four league goals among the squad for the game.

Barça beat Leganes 2-0 thanks to goals from Ansu Fati and Lionel Messi in each half.
