Barça want to sign both Thomas Meunier and Marcos Alonso within the next 24 hours

The club met with Marcos Alonso's agent this morning.

Barça are working against the clock to sign a left-back and a right-back, Xavi's two main priorities.

The aim is to buy Meunier and Marcos Alonso within 24 hours, while also working on the departures. Barça are hoping to wrap their operations up well before the final hours of the market.

Of the two signings, Marcos Alonso's operation is the most advanced. This morning there was a meeting between Mateu Alemany and Raúl Verdú from Lian Sports Agency, who is the agent of both Alonso and Pjanic.

The player has been training on his own for days awaiting Barça's call, but there will be no signing him until some departures happen.

The key to this is Aubameyang's departure. The transfer of the Gabonese looks close, unlike Memphis, for whom clubs are losing interest. The Premier League is now the market with most options open for the Dutchman.

The option of Javier Galán has also been on the table since he will have a significantly lower salary, and also being younger (27 years old), he will have buyers in the future, unlike Marcos Alonso. However, the club have committed to Marcos and will not let him go.

The situation for the right-back is more complicated. In the recent hours Jordi Cruyff's candidate Meunier from Dortmund has been the main interest. Juan Foyth's injury has stalled the plans for his signing, but the club have not yet ruled out Bellerín.

Bellerin, who was trained at La Masia, is waiting for a call from Barça and would arrive for free, but he has a different profile than what is desired by the sporting management.

Azpilicueta had set the benchmark, and Foyth was the closest match. Bellerín is a player with a much more attacking profile.
