For weeks Barcelona have been linked with signing a replacement for Luis Suarez and on Saturday Rodrigo, one of the supposed targets, played against the Catalans for Valencia.
He came off the bench after 58 minutes and helped the team to a 2-0 win over the reigning hampions. He had not played since January 4 because of injury.
Rodrigo's last Liga goal came on November 30 against Villarreal at home.
At the full time whistle he quickly abandoned the pitch looking serious, even though his team had recorded an impressive win, worthy of celebration.
"I didn't see that he was especially downbeat," said Valencia spokesperson Roman Bellver.
