The ex-Ajax man also spoke about his relationship with Matthijs de Ligt

Frenkie de Jong, called up for international duty for Netherlands' games against Germany and Estonia, says he still has a great relationship with Mathijs de Ligt, who turned down Barcelona this summer to join Juventus from Ajax.

"We've stayed in contact," De Jong said. "We've both moved abroad to big clubs, so we speak about that. It's nice to be able to speak to someone who is going through the same thing."

The Dutch midfielder also spoke about his position on the pitch at Barca during the first three games of the season for his new side.

"It did not go well for me against Real Betis," he added. "Normally I receive the ball and I am the first phase of construction. I had to adapt. Against Osasuna it was a little better, but still not how I want it to go. I just have to keep developing."

It's clear that De Jong is still not as comfortable or as adapted to life at Barça as he was at Ajax and is with the national team. However, he added that he is happy at his new club and enjoying his new surroundings.
