Barça make contact with Cruzeiro midfielder Ederson over possible deal

Eric Abidal is part of a Barcelona delegation in Brazil at the moment. As well as following the U17 World Cup, the Catalan club are also checking in on some of the biggest talents in the South American country. 

One of the players they are keeping an eye on is Cruzeiro's defensive midfielder Andre Cury. This week, Abidal met with his agent Cesar Godoy in Brazil. 

Ederson, 20, has tried to play down the importance of the meeting, stressing that he remains focused on his job for Cruzeiro and that he knows nothing about Barça's interest in signing him. 

"So far, my agents haven't told me anything about the situation," he said. "For that reason, there's not much to talk about until I am told anything. 

"If it is true, then I'm happy for the recognition. But it's not the moment to think about leaving. It's necessary to be 100 percent focused on Cruzeiro. I want to help the club which has given me so many chances. I want to be 100 percent here and that's what I am doing and will keep on doing." 

Cruzeiro own 50 percent of Ederson's rights, while another 40 percent belong to Deportivo Brasil. He has a contract until 2023.
