The German international was a teenager when he first watched the fixture

Marc-André ter Stegen will be in goal for Barcelona on Wednesday when the Catalans take on Real Madrid at Camp Nou. The German goalkeeper has played the fixture many times now, but he still remembers the first time he ever watched the two Spanish giants play each other.

In an interview with Goal and DAZN, Ter Stegen has looked back on his memories of the Clasico.

"I was 15 or 16 when I thought that, if I had to decide at any moment in my life, I would choose Barça," he said. "At that age, you don't think how hard it would be (to make it), but the Barça philosophy was always interesting to me.

"It's only when you're in the city that you realise what it really means."

However, he didn't play in his first Clasico at the club, with Claudio Bravo playing league games at the time, which he admits he did not like.

“I did not play in my first Clasico," he added. "I was a little angry because I want to play in every game, of course."
