Barca getting good feedback on Julian Araujo for next season

| sport

Who is that guy with the pink-tinted hair who hangs out at all the La Liga celebrations? Julián Araujo went viral during the celebrations of Barça's 2022/23 La Liga champions. The Mexican full-back had arrived in January and kept up the momentum with Xavi all those months even though he could not play.

This summer the technical staff and the sporting directors decided that the best thing was that in the present season he moved away. But not just any destination. Xavi saw interesting things from the Mexican during the training sessions and wanted him to be given a favourable environment which would help him to grow.

And that's when the option of UD Las Palmas came up. With the former Barça Atlètic coach García Pimienta at the helm. A team based on possession, on association. A risky bet for a new and demanding league. But non-negotiable.

And then came the agreement. Araujo went on loan to the islands in search of another step forward in his career. A very important year for him. It took him two games to become lord and master of the right side of the Las Palmas backline.

A lung on the wing and a 'rock' very difficult to pass at the back. Julián started with confidence and showed his cards. He had just come from a long pre-season, including two tournaments with the Mexican national team.

After coming on at half-time against Valencia on matchday two, he became a permanent fixture at full-back. He has already completed four full matches. He has started five of them. Pimienta is delighted with him and his physical display. He gives a lot of energy.

UD is starting to get back on track (three wins in the last four games). The California-born player suffered an injury against Celta on 2 October and has been absent for this break with Mexico. But it is nothing to worry about and he will be back to full fitness after the break.

In terms of Barça, the club has already conveyed that he is very satisfied with their performance. Bojan is responsible for monitoring the same as with the rest of ceded. The 'feedback' is very positive.

In fact, Julian is aware that these months are important to earn a place in the squad next season. Barça are planning to make an economic effort for Cancelo and the alternative at full-back is a 'low cost' option.

Araujo is on the radar. His next target is the 22nd game against Rayo Vallecano at Gran Canaria.
