Barça defender Jeremy Mathieu goes on trial with Sporting Club
Barcelona confirmed the Frenchman is in Portugal training
They hope all three parties will reach an agreement this month
FC Barcelona announced on Saturday that they have given French defender Jeremy Mathieu to train with Sporting Club.
In a brief statement, the Catalan clb confirmed: “Barcelona has granted permission for defender Jeremy Mathieu to train on a trial basis during his holidays with Sporting Club de Portugal.
“Once this period is over, the two clubs and the Frenchman will make a decision on the player’s future.”
Mathieu is not in new coach Ernesto Valverde's plans for the future and even though he has one year on his contract the club will do what they can to facilitate his move.
Sporting hope to sign the defender on a two-year deal, but first they will have the chance to cast their eye over him for a few weeks.
