Barça break Espanyol's record with 10th straight opening day win

The Catalan club beat Alaves 3-0 on Saturday to kick off their defence of La Liga

With the 3-0 win against Alaves on Saturday, Barcelona have now recorded 10 straight wins on the opening day of La Liga. 

They have taken the record from Espanyol, who recorded nine consecutive opening day wins in the 1930s and 1940s. 

Barça's dominance in Spain during the last decade is reflected in a number of ways, such as winning seven of the last 10 league titles (and nine of six when winning on the first day...). 

Since 2008-09, when Pep Guardiola imfamously debuted with a 1-0 loss to Numancia, Barça have been relentless on the opening day.
