Atletico president Cerezo's reaction to Barcelona's Griezmann chase
"Above all else, we are going to defend the rights of Atletico"
"As far as I know, no one [from Barça] asked us for permission"
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has broken his silence with regards to the club's complaint to FIFA regarding FC Barcelona's negotiations with Antoine Griezmann.
As he left a meeting with the Spanish Football Federation, Cerezo spoke for the first time about the situation.
Despite the good relationship between the two clubs, Cerezo said that "above everything else, we are going to defend the rights of Atletico Madrid."
Cerezo didn't want to say too much and was in a rush, but asked if he had spoken with Barcelona yet, he limited his response to saying "personally I have not spoken with anyone from Barcelona," not denying the possibility that someone else had.
Meanwhile, on if Atletico had given Barça permission to speak with Griezmann, he said that "as far as I know no one asked us for permission."
