Antoine Griezmann benched in La Liga for the third time
He missed the 1-0 win over Huesca, coming on with nine minutes to go
One of the surprises in Ronald Koeman’s side to face Huesca was Antoine Griezmann being benched. The Frenchman sat out for the third time in the league, coming on in the 81st minute for Martin Braithwaite in the 1-0 win. He has started 13 times this season.
Griezmann, wearing blue boots, played nine minutes plus two of stoppage time, and barely entered the play as Huesca pushed to try and find an equaliser.
His first benching came against Real Madrid at Camp Nou, with Griezmann given just eight minutes at the end of the game, with the team 2-1 down.
The second came after eight starts, against Real Valladolid in a 3-0 away win on December 2020. He stayed on the bench in that game, bringing on Umtiti, Busquets, Junior and Coutinho.
In the Champions League, he has not started on two occasions, in the 5-1 win over Ferencvaros, and the 4-0 win over Dynamo Kiev.
