The Dutch giants are confident the midfielder could get the minutes he needs there, plus would fit their system perfectly

Ajax are extremely interested in loaning Carles Aleña next season if Barça open the door to letting the midfielder leave. After the emergence of Arthur alongside the incoming Frenkie de Jong, Aleña might find it difficult to get the regular playing time he desires at the Camp Nou during the 2019/20 season. He's in a similar position to French defender Todibo, who is also looking at a loan move in the summer.

The relationship between the two sides remains strong. With Barça also interested in bring De Ligt in this summer, it means conversations has remained constant throughout. However it goes without saying that the ability to include players Ajax want in a deal should make negotiations go even smoother.

In the last few days there's been talk about what will happen to some of Barça B's biggest stars should they not gain promotion this season. Ajax are playing at the highest level and have a Champions League quarter final to look forward to. The ability to sign promising youngsters on temporary deals as they look to replace their stars could work for all parties. For Ajax, any member of Barça's first team which might be allowed to leave puts Aleña at the top of their wish list.

Barça promoted Aleña to the first team back in January and he's got regular minutes in LaLiga, Copa del Rey and even started against Tottenham in the Champions League. However the quality and strength in depth Barça have in that area means Aleña has been unable to tie down a starting spot and he's had to accept a bit-part role. At the moment the decision is for him to remain at the Camp Nou next season but should that change, Ajax will be in pole position to bring him in.
