The player has told the French champions he wants to go and that they should accept the offer from Barcelona

Adrien Rabiot has already told PSG chiefs that he wants to join Barcelona and begin a new chapter in his career at the Camp Nou.

The player's desire to move is going to be met with resistance in France. Barcelona know this won't be an easy deal to pull off and are willing to bide their time in order to get the transfer for the 23-year-old over the line.

Rabiot has decided he wants to swap the Parque de los Principes for the Camp Nou but needs to convince PSG to sell him first. He's made the first step by talking to the club privately, while Barça hope he'll make a more public gesture and ask for a move away. This could force PSG's hand as the player only has 12 months to run on his existing deal.

psg refuse to negotiate with Barça

First team coach Thomas Tuchel is open to letting Rabiot leave. The young midfielder was upset at how he was used under Unai Emery and blames the Spanish coach for him not making Didier Deschamps' World Cup squad.

However PSG are sticking to their guns and won't even negotiate the sale of Adrien, a player who has come through their own youth academy. Barça have been met with silence and the French club are yet to even name an asking price.

The case of Rabiot is much different to previous conversations, such as the one last summer over Marco Verratti. Rabiot's contract expires next June and he'll be able to walk away on a free transfer. The player's desire is to leave and it's up to Barcelona to convince Nasser Al-Khelaïfi that it'd be in everyone's best interest if this deal was done on amicable terms as opposed to dragging the transfer on throughout the summer window.
