Adrien Rabiot could move to Barcelona in January
The midfielder will be offered a five year deal at 10m euros per season
While in Paris there is tension over Adrien Rabiot’s future, at Barcelona there is calm. The Catalans, through Eric Abidal, have made contact with the player, his mother and agent Veronique Rabiot, and they are trying to smooth things over with PSG.
After these conversations the French player found out first-hand what Barcelona’s offer will be, but has nothing in writing because the club don’t want to be accused of ‘touching’ another club’s player before they are allowed to.
From January 1st, Barcelona can officially make contact. They will give him a five-year deal for 10m euros net a season, as well as a 10m signing on fee. They have told Rabiot this offer verbally. From next week that will be in writing too.
Barcelona believe that Rabiot could be a good player to rejuvenate the middle of the pitch and also strike a blow in PSG’s dressing room, a club they have not had good relations with - with Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Verratti and Neymar different battlegrounds.
Barca want Rabiot from July 1 although PSG want to sell him for 5m euros in January. While Barca have no hurry to sign him, they don’t want him to escape either. If Denis Suarez leaves then there would be space for him now.
