After saying goodbye to Madrid, Guti will look to continue his career in Turkey

As first revealed by SPORT on June 9, José María Gutiérrez, 'Guti', leaves Real Madrid for Besiktas, where he will become the assistant coach to Senol Günes.

Guti leaves his role as coach of Madrid's U19 side to move to Turkey, where he spent the final seasons of his playing career in 2010-11.

The idea is that Guti comes in as Günes's No.2 before taking over as first team coach in 2019-20. There are two reasons why he's accepted the challenge, with the first being the affection he has for the club after spending time there as a player.

As well as that sentimental reason, Guti is also excited to get the chance to coach at what is, without doubt, one of the biggest clubs in Turkey.

Guti has said goodbye to Real Madrid through a letter published on his Instagram page.

"Today I want to thank Real Madrid, my home, for all the years I enjoyed as a player and as a coach," he wrote.

"I will join Besiktas in a few days, which is also my home, as their assistant manager to continue my professional growth.

"I am grateful to Besiktas for the affection and confidence they have deposited in me, I will return it with lots of hard work and commitment.

"My family and I are looking forward to starting this new adventure in Istanbul! Let's do this!"
