Barça close Champions League group stage with a record 29 goals!

FC Barcelona closed their participation in the group phase of the UEFA Women's Champions League against Rosengard at Camp Nou on Wednesday -- and they did so with a victory (6-0), taking them to a record 29 goals in this phase of the competition and obtaining a goal difference of +23.

Jonatan Giráldez's team won 15 points out of a total of 18. They won all their games except the one played against Bayern in Munich (losing 3-1).

Barça started the competition by beating Benfica at the Johan Cruyff (9-0) on Oct. 19 and continued on the path of victories against Rosengard away (1-4) and Bayern Munich at home (3-0 ).

They lost the fourth game, against the Germans on Dec. 7, and won the last two: Benfica (2-6) and on Wednesday against Rosengard (6-0) at the Spotify Camp Nou.

A goal scoring machine

Barça netted a total of 29 goals in the group stage, at an average of 4.8 goals per game. In contrast, in the six games in this group stage, they have conceded six, at an average of one per game.

So far in the 2022-23 season, Giráldez's team have played 18 games, with a record of 17 wins and 1 loss; 78 goals for and 10 against.

The team's top scorer (in all competitions) is the Brazilian forward Geyse with nine goals, followed by Asisat Oshoala and Claudia Pina with eight each. Mariona Caldentey, Crnogorcevic and Aitana Bonmati have seven. In the Champions League, the top scorer is Aitana (five goals).

Barça could not say goodbye to the year 2022 in a better way. The next match will be in 2023, on Jan. 7, against Sevilla at the Johan Cruyff, corresponding to matchday 14 of Liga F.
