The coach must pay 3m euros if he wants to resign so must remain at the helm

Valencia coach Javi Gracia wants to go but will remain in charge of the club. He will have to pay a 3m euro compensation fee if he resigns.

The 50 year old is furious with the transfer dealings this summer which have seen Valencia lose many key men (Parejo, Rodrigo, Coquelin, Torres and more) and not sign anybody.

"To avoid rumours I want to make it clear that I have placed my position at the disposition of the owner and president," said Gracia to EFE in a statement.

"I was aware from the first moment (I took over) that the squad was going to undergo reconstruction, although it is true that I could not imagine that the creation of this squad would end with numerous exits and no arrivals, except for the return of those on loan.

"I will do the best I can to get the maximum performance out of this squad and bring as much happiness as possible to supporters.”
