UEFA say they will be kicked out of European competitions if they carry on with the Super League

UEFA chief Aleksander Čeferin says Barcelona and Real Madrid risk being thrown out of the Champions League if they continue to push ahead with their Super League plans.

Barça and Madrid were one of 12 clubs announced as founder members of the new competition this week, but the backlash has so far seen eight clubs withdraw.

All six English sides have dropped out of the project, while Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan have also said they have reconsidered their decision to enter.

However, Barça and Madrid remain committed to finding a new competition to increase revenue, while Juventus and Milan released statements admitting this week had, basically, been a fiasco but not officially withdrawing from the league.

Čeferin told AP on Friday that the four teams have a big decision to make -- and they risk being expelled from European football.

"It's crystal clear that the clubs will have to decide if they are Super League or they are a European club," Čeferin said. "If they say we are a Super League, then they don't play Champions League, of course

"And if they are ready to do that, they can play in their own competition."
