The Argentine star won best male athlete of the year 2023

The Laureus World Sports Awards, which have recognised some of the greatest athletes of all time, has once again held a new ceremony in Paris in 2023 and, once again, did so in style.

The ceremony was attended by a constellation of current and retired stars, and one of the main protagonists was Leo Messi. The Argentinian was awarded the prize for best male athlete of the year and also received, along with the rest of his Argentinian teammates, the award for best team of the year.

He was not, however, the only award-winner at the gala. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the Jamaican athlete, was awarded the prize for best female athlete of the year, while Carlos Alcaraz was distinguished as the best new athlete and Eriksen as the best comeback of the year.

On the other hand, Cahterine Debrunner received the World Athlete of the Year with a Disability award, Eileen Gu, the World Action Athlete of the Year and TeamUp, the Sport for Good award.
