"The door will always be open for Jordi Alba to return to Spain"
Sergio Ramos defended the Barcelona left-back, who's once again not in the Spain squad
Jordi Alba's continued absence remains a talking point. Luis Enrique has not included the Barcelona left-back in either of his two squads since taking over in the summer.
Spain captain Sergio Ramos was asked about the issue on Sunday ahead of the UEFA Nations League game against England on Monday.
The Real Madrid defender praised the Barça man and said the door is always open for him as far as his concerned.
"I have played with Jordi for many years," Ramos said. "For me, he is one of the best full-backs in the world, he's demonstrated that many times over many seasons.
"The mister [Luis Enrique] is best placed to pick the squad. I have a great friendship with Jordi. I don't know if he will be back with the national team, but the door will always be open."
Ramos also praised Sergio Busquets' role with La Roja: "Busi has a pecuiliar role [with Spain] because he's spent a lot of time there.
"He takes on a little that role of captain and it's good for us, because he's a player with experience. He helps the new players adapt."
