The captain would rather things were said to his face if a pay cut is necessary

Sergio Busquets spoke ahead of Spain’s game against Switzerland in Geneva and fired a shot at Barcelona’s board.

The captain was asked about reports that the club will ask players to take more pay-cuts and he responded strongly.

“I am focused on the national team, I have listened to a lot of things and nothing has happened. I am clam and I would like it if they said it directly to me. I am always available to help and give the maximum I can, for my national team and for my club.”

He reiterated that “they have not proposed anything to the Barca captains. It doesn’t annoy me but I think that it’s not the best decision to do it through the press. I am always willing to help, and not just on an economic level. I’ve always shown up and I am no problem.”

On the criticism of Eric Garcia, Busquets added: “Knowing Eric, he’s very calm, alert, professional and the first to deliver. He’s a great player and I suppose that is the process of being in the national team and at a top club. That’s football and you have to create debates. We all need to improve, and him, who is very young, too.”
