Pique plans to be in Espanyol box as president of Andorra next season
The former Barça defender will have to wait until next April for the game in Cornella
Andorra will visit Espanyol on 21 April 2024 in matchday 36 of LaLiga Smartbank 2023/24. They will do so with their president Gerard Piqué, who plans to make an appearance in the box at the RCDE stadium.
However, the former Barcelona defender is not expected to receive a great welcome from the Espanyol fans. During the course of a stream for the Kings League, he announced that he will be in the box as the owner of Andorra, a second-division club that will be playing against the Perico side for the first time in the same division.
"Next year I will be in the box in Cornellà as the owner of Andorra," he said. "There will be an Espanyol-Andorra match and I have the right to go."
His comments were made with a certain degree of derision, which will add to the animosity in the stands at Espanyol.
It is worth remembering that during his time as a Barça player, he was the protagonist of numerous controversies with Espanyol fans, due to a rivalry that he enjoyed as a Culé to the core.
In fact, Piqué was one of the most insulted players on the team and although he has already retired, the reception will be on a par with those of previous seasons.
