The Canarian footballer spoke after his team's good start to the season

David Silva was one of the pleasant surprises of the past transfer window. The Canarian made a surprise move to Real Sociedad after flirting with Lazio. With Martin Odegaard recalled by Madrid, there was a clear space for him in the Basque Country.

Silva has quickly become a vital player for the team which currently sits top of La Liga. He scored his first Liga goal for a decade against Celta at the weekend and is happy with his new club.

"I spoke to my family and we decided to come here, this is the country I was born in," said Silva in an interview with UEFA. "I knew that at La Real I would feel at home."

At 34, he spoke about his current game. "You mature and keep learning how to move better with and without the ball and to take correct decisions in each moment," he said. "You have to know how to manage the game times. It seems easy but it's not and your head goes a thousand miles an hour and you have to take decisions in each moment. You can't take the same ones when you're winning as when you're drawing or when you're losing."
