Zinedine Zidane an option for Madrid to replace Ancelotti

The coach is back on the radar of Florentino Perez for next season

Zinedine Zidane has the doors open to him at Real Madrid to return whenever he wants. Florentino Perez will find him any job to have him by his side again. A legend at the club, who excelled on the pitch and on the bench across three spells, one as a player and two as a coach. Carlo Ancelotti is conscious that if he wins nothing this season then he will not stay for the last year of his contract and Zizou is favourite to return to the bench.

Since Zidane left Madrid he waited patiently to relieve Didier Deschamps as France manager. However Les Bleus renewed their man until 2026 and then federation chief Noel Le Graet slagged off Zidane.

The coach left Madrid in May 2021 and wants to return to the game. He rejected various clubs including PSG but Madrid might work for him.

He knows the club well, their philosophy and how to manage an ego-filled dressing room. He is respected and even desired by some of the players and can bring Madrid's hunger back.

Raul Gonzalez would be the main loser, who has been coaching at the youth academy for four years, awaiting his chance.

Ancelotti has the chance to win a trophy this week in the Spanish Super Cup - although it is La Liga and the Champions League that could mark his future.
