UEFA take to social media to explain why VAR ruled out Ajax's goal

In two tweets the organisation explained why Ajax's goal against Real Madrid was ruled out following VAR's involvement

At the end of Ajax's match against Real Madrid, which they lost 2-1, UEFA posted two tweets explaining why the referee Damir Skomina disallowed Tagliafico's goal for the hosts.

"In the 38th minute of the Ajax v Madrid first leg, Nicolás Tagliafico’s headed goal was ruled out following a VAR review. The referee identified that Tagliafico’s team-mate Dušan Tadić was in an offside position and interfering with the goalkeeper - preventing him from playing or being able to play the ball - as the header was being made. This was in line with VAR protocol and the goal was correctly overturned and a free-kick given for offside."

The stance from UEFA to immediately respond to criticism of VAR is in stark contrast to LaLiga, who don't explain or justify the decisions made by the video assistant referees.
