Los Blancos produced a good display to bear rivals Atletico 3-1 on Saturday

Real Madrid coach Santiago Solari was extremely satisfied with his side's performance at the Wanda Metropolitano as they beat rivals Atletico 3-1 on Saturday.

Antoine Griezmann cancelled out Casemiro's opener but a Sergio Ramos penalty and a Gareth Bale goal helped Madrid to the three points.

Madrid move ahead of Atletico into second with the win, five points behind leaders Barcelona, who play at Athletic Club on Sunday.

"It was our best game since December, in this part of the season, winning against a really good, really strong and really competitive team," Solari said. "It was a complete performance."

"We're all the team, but the players win. The biggest credit goes to tehm: 95 percent of the victory is on them and the rest of us try to help them, as coaches, medics, the board, the fans..."

The game was filled with controversy. VAR intervened to allow Griezmann's goal to stand but later ruled out an Alvaro Morata goal for offside.

"The coaches don't see the VAR (replays) because we don't have a monitor on the bench," Solari said when asked for his opinion on the calls. "The only thing we can do is wait and hope for the correct decision."
