Real Madrid won't be selling any of their wantaway stars on the cheap
Florentino Perez needs to generate as much money as possible for his stadium plans and can no longer sell players under their market value
Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has been unable to raise the funds he expected for remodelling the Santiago Bernabeu and now must raise extra money via player sales.
Perez had hoped that investing in young starlets to save money would help fund his stadium plans. However handing current stars larger contracts coupled with a frustrated fan base means that another route must be taken. He needs to rebuild the team with established stars and forget about trying to make Real Madrid the home of the world's best young talent.
Cristiano Ronaldo, James Rodriguez, Xabi Alonso and Pepe all left for fees lower than most people expected. Those losses have impacted the side's fortunes as well. And due to Madrid being desperate to offload players, teams know they could snag a bargain. However that has come to an end now and the club has advised anyone who wants to leave that it'll only be for a fair price.
NO MORE 'GIFTS' IN THE TRANSFER MARKET
This is a clear message to big money stars who want to leave. It's a message to Varane, Marcelo and Bale. Three players who either officially or unofficially have expressed a desire to leave. It also goes to suitors of Isco and Kroos: if you want someone, you'll have to pay what they're worth.
Varane's buyout clauses stands at €200m and he has a contract until 2022. It caused great laughter amongst those at Madrid to learn Manchester United could have Kroos for just €60m. He too has a contract until 2022 and a buyout clause of €500m. Bale won't be sold on the cheap either. Madrid won't accept anything less than €101m for the Welshman, but hope to get around €120m. Mariano is in the same boat. Madrid want their money back, so €21m. Kovacic won't be sold for anything below €50m and if that doesn't happen, he could be loaned out again. Isco, Asensio, Marcelo and Ceballos are wanted by Zidane and won't be sold unless it's for crazy money.
