The Real Madrid player has done an interview with Panenka magazine

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio, who shone in Spain's 6-0 win over Croatia on Tuesday, is the cover star of the new edition of the magazine Panenka.

The former Mallorca player calls for a regular spot in the Madrid side following Cristiano Ronaldo's exit: "With or without Cristiano, I was facing (the season) motivated by earning my place in the team and trying to be more important. And, well, that's been the case, I've started the season well. I have worked hard."

And he took advantage of the interview to ask for the No.7 shirt left vacant by Ronaldo: "I wouldn't like to finish my career with the No.20 shirt. That says everything. If I would like to change? Yes. We will see what happens."

Asensio also highlighted ex-coach Zinedine Zidane's role in his career: "I always told me not to let people put things in my head, to not listen to what people say outside (the club). Because people talk a lot, especially at Real Madrid, where the expectations are high. He told me to focus on football, my family and to not lose what brought me to this point."
