The Real Madrid forwards have been criticised for the team's slow start

El Mundo suggest it would be an "embarrassment" to give Ronaldo the Ballon d'Or

Real Madrid have hit the bottom. The goalless draw at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday, in the Madrid derby against Atletico, has left Zinedine Zidane's side 10 points behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga.

Despite still having 26 games to play, many feel it's too much of a gap to come back from, a situation which has led to a witch hunt in Madrid.

The three members of the BBC -- Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo -- are the focus of the critics, to the point that some media in the Spanish capital have given up on the trident.

"Bale, Benzema and the slow death of the BBC," say El Confidencial on Sunday. Not in vain, they point out that it's been more than six months since the trio combined on the pitch. Not since the La Liga Clasico (April 23, 2017).

They add: "The Madrid frontline is limping everywhere. Cristiano doesn't score. Bale can't even play and the Bernabeu's had enough of Benzema."

El Confidencial is not the only paper to have this opinion. "Madrid, that team capable of scoring three goals without even having a chance, need to get into the box seven times just to have one opportunity," says Manuel Jabois in El Pais.

As for El Mundo, Julian Ruiz asks "Should Cristiano go?" And he adds: "If they give him the Ballon d'Or, it will be the biggest embarrassment of a magzine that is also in decline, like France Football."

PAULINHO VS BBC

A statistic which sentences the BBC is that Barcelona's Paulinho has scored as many goals as them combined in La Liga this season
