The biggest deal of the summer could be about to happen as sources in Italy suggest everything is agreed

Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Juventus only appears to be hours away. The two sides are close to reaching an agreement, with some sources in Italy even suggesting the deal is completely agreed and that the player had a medical in Germany.

If this is true, Cristiano is already a Juventus player and the only thing that's lacking is an official announcement.

This is what former director of football at Juventus, Luciano Moggi, told 'Tele7Gold' in an interview.

Moggi said: "Cristiano has already signed his contract and passed a medical in Germany. This is the conclusion I've reached after speaking to those involved in the negotiations."

The meetings have accelerated following Portugal's elimination from the World Cup. Real Madrid responded to Juve's interest by asking for €100m for the player, way below the €1000m marked in his contract.

The Turin club have offered the Portuguese star a four-year deal where he'll earn €30m per season.

he could have joined juve in 2003

Moggi also revealed that Cristiano could've signed for Juventus back in 2003, before he joined Manchester United.

The then-General Director, who was in the role from 1994 to 2006, admitted that he had reached an agreement with Sporting Clube de Portugal. "We offered €5m plus Marcelo Salas. That was the moment to sign him, not now."

The potential deal to bring Cristiano to the club in 2003 was made difficult by Salas' refusal to join Sporting. "He (Cristiano) was an 18-year-old but his maturity stood out for me, his ability to make decisions. He was strong. We agreed contract terms in half a day but Salas refused to negotiate with Sporting as he wanted to return to River Plate."
