The forward scored twice on Lionel Messi's debut in a 2-0 win against Reims

Kylian Mbappe's the name on everyone's lips going into the final days of the transfer window. While his future is still up in the air, though, he's still proving important for Paris Saint-Germain. He scored a brace in the 2-0 win over Reims on Sunday, eclipsing Lionel Messi on his debut. Both goals were celebrated.

Mbappe called it "the perfect night" on his social media channels in a photograph with his teammates Neymar and Achraf Hakimi, who set up his second goal. In the description, he added: "Three points and two goals... the perfect night."

The France forward, who joined up with his national team on Monday, didn't make any comments after the game. Coach Mauricio Pochettino did speak.

"Mbappe is out player," he said. "The football industry is full of rumours, but our president and sporting director are very clear, (Mbappe) is here with us. I am happy to have him, he's one of the best. It's a gift."

Captain Marquinhos added that "we want him to stay, he's important for us. We hope he makes the best decision possible."

Madrid wait

With his contract up in 2022, the French club have so far rejected all offers from Madrid, but they have not replied to the latest bid from Los Blancos, worth 170 million euros and 10 million more in add-ons.

Mbappe has no intention to sign a new contract and is waiting for PSG to accept Madrid's offer. But for now, it seems more likely that he stays in Paris for the final year of his deal than moves to Madrid, who are waiting for him.
