Luis Enrique in line to replace Galtier as new Paris Saint-Germain coach

The former Barça boss has been out of work since leaving Spain after the World Cup

After talks with former Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann collapsed, Paris Saint-Germain appear to be back on track in their search for a successor to Christophe Galtier, who will leave after just one season in charge.

According to the French press, former Barcelona and Spain coach Luis Enrique is expected to be the new PSG coach, although there are still a few details to be finalised.

A shortlist of candidates had emerged, with names such as Sérgio Conceição, Marcelo Gallardo and Luis Enrique all linked with the reigning Ligue 1 champions.

Per L'Équipe, PSG have opted for the latter to take over. The former Azulgrana and 'La Roja' boss will now be their next manager, although there are still details to be ironed out.

Luis Enrique was initially hesitant to go ahead with negotiations as PSG were also interested in Nagelsmann, but he is now ready to join, with the club expected to announce his arrival next week, according to the aforementioned media outlet.

The Spaniard has become the favourite choice of the Parisian club's top brass because of his experience and ability to build a team rather than focus on a single player. Fundamentally, both club president Nasser Al Khelaifi and sporting advisor Luis Campos are in agreement with his arrival.

This, reports L'Équipe, was not the case with both Conceicao and Marcelo Gallardo, with whom talks were still ongoing on Saturday. However, PSG remain in contact with both, in case the deal with Luis Enrique does not close.
