Lionel Messi whistled by PSG ultras again: A message for Barcelona?

Some fans have turned on Messi following PSG's Champions League elimination

Lionel Messi's future in Paris remains unclear. Despite the fact that before the World Cup it seemed that PSG had reached an agreement with the Argentine to renew his contract, the reality is that the months go by and Messi has still not signed an extension with the Parisian outfit, something that has fuelled rumours about his future.

Therefore, and with a strange atmosphere in Paris after the Champions League elimination, the ultras have taken it out on the Argentine. In the lead-up to the match against Lyon, Leo received whistles from the PSG radicals of when his image was shown in the warm-up before the Ligue 1 game. The reaction of the ultras seems a clear message to the 'rapprochement' of Barça with the Argentine, which has risen in tone in recent days.

Barça position themselves

In recent weeks the messages from Barcelona about Lionel's possible return to the club have intensified. From president Joan Laporta, who has reportedly assured those closest to him that he will do everything possible to get Messi back in the Barça shirt, to vice-president Rafael Yuste, who told SPORT that Barça "are in contact with Messi."

"Leo and his family know how fond I am of them. I took part in the negotiations that unfortunately did not lead to a successful outcome. I have a thorn in my side that Leo couldn't stay at our club. If we are talking about La Masia and grassroots football, we are talking about Messi. Of course I would love him to come back. For what he could represent on a sporting, social and economic level. We are in contact with them, yes," assured Yuste to David Bernabeu, our journalist.

Two renewal offers

PSG, however, are not giving up on the Argentinian. During the tie against Bayern, which meant the Parisians' elimination from Europe, PSG, through Luis Campos, their sporting director, met with Jorge Messi, the player's agent and father. At this meeting, PSG presented him with an initial offer that did not satisfy the Messi family.

A fortnight ago, and after the insistence of Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, emir of Qatar, the Parisians reactivated negotiations and are already working, according to SPORT, on a second proposal that should emphasize the sporting objectives, something essential for Leo to consider staying in the French capital.
