L'Equipe: Mbappé unhappy with Messi signing

Nasser Al-Khelaifi's dream of a Messi-Neymar-Mbappé front three might not come true after all. While Messi's arrival means that PSG have the most competitive squad in Europe, it remains to be seen whether or not all their star players will remain at the club beyond the transfer window.

Mbappé only has one year left on his current deal at PSG, and negotiations about a possible extension have broken down. According to L'Equipe journalist Thibaud Vezirian, in fact, Mbappé would like to leave the club this summer: "Kylian Mbappé wants to leave. He has asked for his loyalty bonus and does not want to sign a new deal. Either PSG sell him to Real Madrid this summer, or he joins on a free transfer next summer. He'd warned the club a few weeks ago that he doesn't want to play alongside Messi".

Following the signing of Messi, PSG president Al-Khelaifi is understood to have said that "Mbappé doesn't have any more excuses" during the player's official presentation.

Mbappé wants to be the main man at whichever club he plays at, and Real Madrid represent an opportunity for him to become the new Cristiano Ronaldo - one of his childhood heroes. With the signing of Messi, Mbappé is unlikely to be front and centre at PSG the next couple of years at least.
