'The Griezmann Show' has past its sell-by date

There's no doubt that Antoine Griezmann's 'La Decision' mini-documentary was new and different in the football world. It was a success, as an event, with consequences due to his choice. The French forward accepted the risk of recording his thoughts, opinions and ultimately the reason behind his decision. The very public 'no' to Barça, who showed a huge desire to bring him into the fold, delighted Atletico Madrid supporters but it felt a sour taste amongst those at the Camp Nou.

Griezmann, aside from his obvious quality, would have been a controversial signing in the Barça dressing room. The pressure of pulling on that 'blaugrana' shirt would be huge for him and, despite being 'cheap' in this current market, could have caused damage to the existing project.

Now Griezmann knows Atletico have reached their limit and got his decision wrong. He stayed thinking that a Champions League title was on the cards but, today, his and their entire season could be over. They are out of all the other competitions and the French man is once again offering his services to Barça. Simply put, he wants a second chance after publicly slamming the door shut on Barcelona.

However that documentary might have been the warning sign Barça needed. Like Neymar, Griezmann is someone you can't ever fully trust. Eventually, they ends up coming back to haunt you. Signing a pure '9' striker is a lot more necessary - and smarter.
