Who signed Pedri and Araujo for Barcelona?

One man brought both of the young talents to the club and they are already key

I don’t know what will happen to Ramon Planes after the FC Barcelona elections, but the current technical secretary has served up what should be the future of the club on a plate. He was the man who decided to sign Pedri, for four million euros. It was clearly worth it. Regardless of the price, he has so much quality that Barcelona can start to construct the future around him and enjoy him in the present.

His game against Valladolid was scandalously good. In just a few months he’s become a nailed starter and Leo Messi’s best team-mate. With Pedri it’s different because Messi knows he can support him and even provide that impossible pass. The change of system allowed them to work closely together without Griezmann and Coutinho getting in the way. Barcelona were a lot more fluid in attack. It’s simple: forget about names and hierarchies and pick the players who help the team play better. Pedri, and Leo, and if they are together then more’s the better.

Against Valencia it was Araujo and against Valladolid, Pedri. It was also Planas who signed Araujo when he was a Boston River player in the Uruguayan league, for less than two million euros. He’s also a pillar in the Barca of the future and present. Planes deserves a round of applause.
