Yesterday the election campaign began in earnest. The battles started in September though, with the move against Bartomeu, and his eventual resignation. Then the collection of signatures during the pandemic and eight candidates at Christmas. Since Jan 14, there have been three, Laporta, Font and Freixa. On Sunday we will see the first big debate. It will be, in theory, from there that the artillery comes out. Each one with their own strategy and different objectives. Laporta, to motivate those faithful to him and convince those who are nostalgic for the best Barca in history. Font to gather up the indecisive fans. Freixa to mobilise the anti-Laportistas and the post-Nunistas, (Rossellistas). The positioning of each is clear. The two extremes, Laporta and Freixa, and the middle ground, Font. We will have to see what the socios want in these moments of sporting, economic and institutional crisis. And the impact of the new postal vote.

The polls make Laporta clear favourite. The former president, charismatic, has for now hidden from debate. Now he will have to compare and contrast his project and above all, defend himself from criticism for mistakes made in his former reign. Font is suffering from the wear and tear of having been the first to announce his attention to lead the club. The three are good candidates, each in their own way, with different styles. And now we enter the home straight, where each have to offer their very best. Good luck, to the three of them.
