Don't give up... and do bring Haaland to Barcelona

Barcelona cannot give up. It’s hard to be optimistic with problems accumulating and adverse circumstances. But many games lay ahead. We have to keep working and fighting. It’s the only way to get out of crisis. Putting down their weapons is not an option. The team cannot throw in the towel. Like they did at the end of last season. That humiliation cannot be repeated. Xavi will not allow it. They could lose in Munich. It’s logical that they do. But if they do it will be with head high, betting on their style, attacking and being recognisable.

We’re all conscious of this squad’s limitations. Aggravated by unfortunate injuries too. The sudden departure of Lionel Messi, and then Griezmann too. Barcelona lost over 60 goals, And signed nobody (Luuk de Jong is a joke in bad taste). Xavi can try and solve their weaknesses, he’s trying, in a tactical sense, but not the lack of goals. And that is penalising the already poor performance of the team.

On Saturday we saw a duel of predators in the box, Lewandowski and Haaland. Two beasts destroying records. Barcelona have to do all they can to sign one of these players next summer. All the money they have and the money they don’t. Haaland makes more sense given their ages, 21 to 33, and he has a big future ahead of him. It’s an operation of 150 million euros, but the best 150m euros they could spend in their history. Compare it to the badly spent money on Coutinho. Barcelona can’t make more mistakes. Barcelona need a goalscorer and a star, and Haaland is both.

Not giving up now so later they can make a historic signing. That is the plan. Hard. Very hard. But if there is a coach and a president capable of these miracles it is Xavi and Laporta. Barcelonismo believes in them.
